Hookah Troubleshooting - Shisha Depot Once

If it seems like your hookah isn't working properly, don't panic (not yet anyway!). In this article, we will go through the full list of things to double check when you need to troubleshoot your hookah.
The first thing you will want to look at is your water level. If the water is too low, your session will be rough and the smoke will be rough. If your water level is too high, it will be very difficult to draw your smoke out and you risk some water getting sucked into your hose. Ideally, you want your water to hover about 1 inch above your lower torso.

Once that's taken care of, we'll secure all the connective parts. Start by making sure your base grommet is closed properly. Next, check the hose and bowl rings as well. It only takes one loose tip to ruin your entire session. You also want to make sure you use the proper grommets for the proper connections. The base grommet won't help you much with connecting the bowl.
Next is your hose. We'll start by looking at the connective parts of both ends of the hose. Make sure it's nice and tight. If everything has been checked so far, closely inspect the entire hose and see if there are any tears.
The next step is to use our hose to make sure all connections work well. You'll blow into your hose and if smoke escapes from the purge, you're all set. It's also a good idea to unscrew the purge to look at the ball bearing to remove any buildup residue that may have built up over time, preventing your smoke from escaping completely.
If the hookah still does not work properly, we will continue to move up. Coal may be the culprit in this scenario. If the coals are not ignited properly when removed from the stove, they will likely burn out quickly. When this happens, you will notice a very bad taste in your smoke, so it is worth paying attention to this. A good indication that your charcoal isn't ready to go is the lack of a "glow". You want the coals to be completely glowing before you transfer them to your bowl.
Plus, it's never a good idea to stir the coals regularly during your sessions. This will help the hookah maintain a consistent heat level and not spoil the flavor of the hookah.
If you are still having difficulty smoking a hookah, you may have made the mistake of over or under filling the bowl. If you notice it's looking a little thin, sprinkle some on top of your original coat.
If you think you put in too much, stir it around a bit to clear some of the airways and maybe remove a small amount.
Good job, you just completed a top down hookah diagnostics and should be back in business again!
